John Fund Equity Partners wins 2010 ECSRA “Social Responsible” award

John Fund Equity Partner (JFEP) was elected best “Socially Responsible” company transit in Europe for 2010.

The title was bestowed by the European Corporate Social Responsability Association (ECSRA) as part of its annual meeting, held Oct. 5 in Birmingham, UK.

The organization, which includes nearly 1,500 companies in Europe, decides annually on the effectiveness of sustainable development policies.

ECSRA members were impressed by the campaigns of JFEP, through its association with Europe’s leading NGO (Non Governamental Organizations) and the works of its Foundation (JFEP Foundation).

This is the first time since 1995 that an English company has won the title.

What is “Social Responsability” in the corporate world?

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept where companies integrate social, environmental, and economic activities and in their interactions with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis. To make it simple, it implies that the business contributes to sustainable development issues.

CSR is the result of requests from society (environmental and humanitarian associations for example) for better consideration of environmental and social impacts of business operations.

CSR is the business declination of the sustainable development concept that integrates the three pillars: environmental, social, and economic. It was the agenda of the Earth Summit in Johannesburg in 2002, attended by large companies, especially French, sectors of the environment and energy.
